Professional Profile
As a media history scholar, I investigate the transformative impact of emerging digital innovations on journalism, focusing on the production and consumption of visual news communication. My research explores the symbiosis between technological advancements and the evolving media landscape.
With a strong background in higher education, I have successfully taught a diverse range of courses, including new media, multimedia communication, journalism, photojournalism, photography, digital photographic workflow, television production, and English as a second language instruction. My teaching expertise spans large lecture and seminar courses, complemented by experience in developing innovative curricula and courses that seamlessly integrate online, hybrid, and traditional classroom environments, fostering an immersive learning experience.
As a seasoned visual media professional, my foundation in photography has blossomed into an expansive career within news media, encompassing newspaper, magazine, and book publishing, as well as broadcast television. Throughout my tenure, I have assumed a variety of roles, including photographer, photojournalist, reporter, show host, visual editor, and editor, cultivating a unique blend of creative vision and technical expertise that informs my academic research and educational pursuits.
